• In summer 2023, I ran a UNIQ+ project called The Meaning of ‘Meaningless’ Pronouns, working with Dan Street (University of Glasgow) and Dylan Ryder (Durham University) to uncover the functions of ProTags. UNIQ+ is the University of Oxford’s flagship graduate access programme. UNIQ+ research internships offer talented UK undergraduate students from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to experience postgraduate study in Oxford’s research community.

  • In 2016, I launched the first Linguistics course at the UNIQ summer school, the University of Oxford's flagship access programme for pupils based at UK state schools or colleges in their first year of post-GCSE education. UNIQ is a free programme for state-educated students from all over the UK who are in their first year of further education. I was Course Director of the first UNIQ Linguistics summer school, as well as a teacher. The course was highly successful and continues to run today. UNIQ is an access programme, which means that state school students with good grades from backgrounds that are under-represented at Oxford and other highly selective universities are prioritised. If this describes you and you are interested in studying Linguistics, I encourage you to apply and find out more about the subject and how we teach it at Oxford.

  • I regularly take part in Open Day presentations promoting Linguistics to potential applicants. This link will take you to the recording of a virtual Open Day I was involved in for Experimental Psychology.
You can watch my contribution to Somerville College's virtual Open Days in 2020 and 2021 below.

  • At Somerville, I offer taster sessions on Linguistics to school pupils visiting the College.

  • Within the Humanities Division, I have provided an outreach session introducing Linguistics to local Year 9 pupils.
