Decision-Making

Introduction

Virtually all behaviour can be seen as the result of decisions, or choices. When an organism does something it "chooses" not to do other things. The study of decision-making is the formal and experimental analysis of how and why animals decide to act in a certain way. This implies a constant intertwining of theories and facts, and it also requires relating the function of behaviour to the psychological mechanisms that underlie it.
