OUSFG Trinity Termcard 2009

Sunday Library Meetings are held from 8pm till late in Thomas's room, in Holywell Street 6/7 (map), room 14. Go through the big wooden door to the Merton College Annexe on Holywell Street (nearly opposite the New College entrance). The closest door to Holywell 6/7 is immediately to your right, just before the porter's lodge (another map). Ring the buzzer for room 14 to be let in. Inside you need to go upstairs, downstairs, and up to room 14 at the top. You can ask at the door to be collected if you think you might get lost. (If the buzzer doesn't work, ask the porter to ring Thomas Keyton.)
These evenings are an opportunity to socialise, and chat about life, the universe and everything, whilst also perusing and borrowing from OUSFG's library of over 2,400 books.

Most Wednesday discussion meetings and silly games (see below for topics and alternate locations) are held at 8pm in Linacre College's (map) Carolyn Tanner Irish (CTI) Room. Enter the main door of Linacre (up the stairs) and go through the doorway to the right of the porter's booth. Go up two flights of stairs (following signs for the CTI room). Head forward into a smaller hallway containing the development office and look for the room labeled CTI. Alternatively just ask the porter who is normally very friendly.

Wednesday video meetings (see below for programme) start at 8pm in New College (map) Lecture Room 4 (marked "C" on this map; or PDF).

Sign up for the ousfg-announce mailing list to receive a reminder and detailed directions for each meeting.

Termcard
29 Apr  Wednesday 1st Week Video The Dark Crystal. This 1982 cult movie was created by the Jim Henson company and involves groundbreaking animatronics (not Muppet style puppets at all). It's a dark fantasy tale about a Gelfling's quest.
6 May  Wednesday 2nd Week Discussion Tentacular Vikings Evening - Tim in 8 New College Lane (far left, on the New College map).
Working within the constraints of a few required plot elements can we come up with ideas and plot for a book or film? Previous stories have involved teleporting Swiss plane crash victims (or are they?) biotech (somehow involving the Great God Cthulhu and a naked cloned murderer played by SM Gellar), alien contact (superintelligent bears rescue space station survivors). Oh yes, and tentacular Vikings.
13 May  Wednesday 3rd Week Video Let the Right One In
20 May  Wednesday 4th Week Discussion Game Mechanics - Lyndsey and Conrad in Linacre CTI Room.
27 May  Wednesday 5th Week Video Primer. Four geeks working in a garage to create the next big thing. They get more than they bargained for.
28 May  Thursday 5th Week Quiz Oxford Geek Quiz — battle of wits and knowledge against Docsoc, Tolksoc, RPGsoc, et al. Please bring your own round of questions if you have one (don't tell anyone the answers). 8pm, St John's College, North Quad Lecture Room.
3 Jun  Wednesday 6th Week Discussion Philosophy and SF - Toby in Linacre CTI Room.
10 Jun  Wednesday 7th Week Silly Games in Linacre CTI Room
13 Jun  Saturday 7th Week Punt Party with the traditional Punt Party Pantomime.
17 Jun  Wednesday 8th Week Discussion Magic: The Gathering, creating OUSFGian cards - Freya in St Hilda's College (map), Lady Brodie Room (in Hall Building, which is the first one you see directly opposite you as you go through the gates. The room is signposted as soon as you enter the building.)
This trading card game has taken library meetings by storm, and so this evening we will create cards for each OUSFGian who would like to be in card form, and maybe OUSFG-like things too - Colin the Elephant, Portal Cake... Expect your photo to be taken (with your permission) in earlier library meetings.
