Serving on Council of Europe MSI-RES Committee of Experts on Increasing Resilience of Media

I recently agreed to serve on the Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts on Increasing Resilience of Media (MSI-RES).

The committee will focus on two aspects of media resilience. The first is “the use of digital tools including artificial intelligence for journalism/by journalists”, and the second is “good practices for sustainable media financing”.

I hope to bring evidence on what the public thinks about each of these issues, based on data we collected as part of the Digital News Report. For example, see this short chapter from the 2021 Digital News Report on how people think about the financing of the commercial news media I coauthored with Rasmus Kleis Nielsen.

The first meeting will take place March 31 - April 1 2022, and the committee will meet a further three times before the end of 2023.
