We are particularly proud of both our collections of land and
acquatic birds. Our penguins remain a source of constant attraction for our
younger visitors, and we currently have on display a Ludvig Ostrichus -
a blackbodied ostrich - on loan from Newbury Zoo. He was born at Christmas and
is already fully-fledged - we hope that we will be able to keep him on
permanent loan and find him a breeding partner.
Our domestic birds live in the Nature Reserve, and both the flightless and exotic birds live nearby. Please do not feed any of the flightless or exotic birds, they all have individual diets which are carefully monitored by their Keepers. Any food which you give them will upset the balance of their diet and may even cause them harm. If you would like to see the birds being fed, please look for the notices displayed in each area for feeding times, or ask any of the Zoo staff. |
