Most of my teaching and research is concerned principally with French and how and why languages change, and what this can tell us about the way language is structured in the human mind.

Research

The core focus of my research is syntactic change and variation in the history of French and the Romance family of languages. Read a full description of my research interests here.

Teaching

I have lectured, supervised and examined a range of courses for undergraduates at the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and the University of Manchester. A more detailed description of my teaching experience is on this page.
