Joining The Hayward Group

Part II Students

The group generally accepts 4 Part II (Oxford final year) students per year. Part II projects tend to lie in the highlighted research areas. Research students are directly supervised by Prof. Hayward assisted by senior graduate students and post docs who have projects in related areas.

Prospective Part II students are welcome to come and talk about projects, email to arrange a meeting.

Graduate Students

We are always looking to recruit new graduate students to the group. Graduate (D.Phil) courses usually begin at the end of September and the graduate admissions system is geared to this schedule. All prospective D.Phil students should consult the Chemistry Department's Graduate Web Pages and contact Prof. Hayward as soon as possible to discuss research opportunities, possible sources of funding and to arrange (if possible) a visit to Oxford.

Postdoctoral Researchers and Academic Visitors

The group currently supports postdoctoral research associate positions through external funding. At present all these positions are filled – new vacancies are advertised as and when on the departmental jobs webpage. In addition, there are a number of possible sources of funding to which applications can be made by the researcher themselves, including Junior Research Fellowships (JRFs) offered by a number of Oxford colleges. Prospective researchers should contact Prof. Hayward to discuss opportunities in the group.
