Research in the group is focused on the synthesis and detailed characterisation of new solid-state compounds which exhibit novel electronic and magnetic behaviours. Particular physical properties we are interested in include superconductivity, magnetoresistance, complex magnetism and a wide range of behaviours where magnetism couples to another property of materials, such as magneto-electric coupling (multiferroic behaviour) and spin-polarized conductivity. |
Synthetic effort in the group is focused in two major areas: Low-temperature Topochemical Manipulation of Solids and the Synthesis of Complex Cation-Ordered Phases.
