The 1939 "England and Wales Register" for Worcs, Droitwitch (QKEG) shows that at the age of 5 Jane was living at "Burleigh, Hanbury" near Droitwich in the same household as Blanche L Jervis, a draper, and "Elric L Burnard" a 46 year old unpaid female child minder. Someone has written "Stokes" in green ink over the name "Jane M Burnard", suggesting that this is the right Jane all right. Presumably she had been evacuated to rural Droitwich.
