2. Wheel Spacers

25 mm rear wheel spacers.

Heavy duty specification yet very light
Mounts on the original hubs using separate bolts (supplied)
Original bolts still needed to fix the wheel onto the spacer

3. Braided Brake Lines

Braided flexible steel brake lines
Less fading and more braking power

4. Intelligent ABS Disable

It is commonly known that the Delco/Moraine ABS systems are pretty lame. These systems are in place on cars from the SE's thru the S4s. I am sure many people have experienced the pedal pressure disappear on them under fairly aggressive braking or even under mild braking on a bumpy road surface.Once you have upgraded your brakes then the ABS becomes very intrusive and under ideal dry road conditions you will not get optimum breaking with the ABS on.

Mark Weins in California has developed an elegant solution. He has carried out several experiments to improve the brake feel, he found the best solution was to disable the ABS solenoids. There are three solenoids - two for the front brakes and one solenoid supplies both the rear. What is achieved by disabling the solenoids, is that the back pressure is removed and you achieve a 'realistic' feel to the brakes again. There is slight more movement to the brake pedal as well as a very slight more power assist feel, because the pressure assist pump is no longer providing the pressure 'against' your foot!

The solution for this is to essentially "fake" the ABS computer into thinking the solenoids are still connected. To do this, you can add a simple two-resistor module in place of each of the three solenoids. As shown in the rest of the images, the resistor values are 10K Ohms, 1/4 watt, 5%.

The full instructions can be found on Marks' website.

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT MESSING WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON CARS IS A SERIOUS BUISNESS AND SHOULD NOT BE UNTAKEN BEFORE DUE CONSIDERATION OF THE RISKS. ON WET OR SLIPPERY ROADS ABS ASSIST IS A VERY IMPORTANT DRIVERS AID.

5. Brake Pads

Number of non-Lotus OEM options are available for the front and rear Brembo Calipers.

I like the PAGID RS range. I currently ise the RS-14 front and rear.

The PAGID Pad references for the Brembo calipers are are : E1408 (Front) and E1682 (rear). (The rear is the same part number as the Elise or Exige rear caliper, so there are more readily available)

Les Twigg is an excellent source of advice on Esprit pads and brake components.
