Oxford University Orienteering Club is responsible for the permanent orienteering course situated within the grounds of the University Parks. It was first installed in 2003 and has been recently repaired and expanded over the Summer of 2025. The course consists of 42 wooden posts featuring plaques with attached number and letter pairs. The course is free to use and provides training opportunities for both the local and public clubs.
There are two ways you can use the course: If you want to do a treasure hunt then a map of all the posts in the parks can be found here. Alternatively if you want to try some classical orienteering courses then follow this link to our drive where we present ten, increasingly tricky, courses.
Schools are very much encouraged to make use of the new course too. If you are a schoolteacher and would like to be sent the number and letter pairs for every control then please get in touch with us at poc@ouoc.org.uk. Do let us know how you get on!
