OUOC and TVOC invite you to the second annual team competition between the two clubs to be held on Saturday 31st January 2026. Details can be found below!
Following the success of last year's test event, the Town v Gown competition between OUOC and TVOC is returning to the streets of Oxford this January. The event is a team competition - while everyone will compete individually, their performance will provide the opportunity for their team to score points to ultimately decide which club is the victor. While this is primarily an event for members of TVOC and OUOC, there is more than enough space for other orienteers to join us (please do!) - if you are joining us and are not a member of TVOC/OUOC then please select "N/A" when asked for your team!
Event assembly will be located at St Anne's College. You will be able to drop bags before heading to the start in University Parks. There is one course with an optimum distance of 5-6km, starts are available on minute intervals. The course will start in University Parks, head into the Science Area and hopefully visit the newly built area of the Radcliffe Observatory Quarter (permissions pending) before finishing in the grounds of St Anne's. To keep the area fresh, some artificial barriers will be added to the map, as well as a novel challenge that will be revealed nearer the time!
Please note that the course is planned to cross both Banbury and Woodstock Road without timed-out sections. Additionally, due to university safeguarding policy, there are strict rules around the presence of under 18s. As such, under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult AT ALL TIMES both on and off the course - we do not encourage bringing under 18s to the event.
Entries are available on RaceSignup, there will be no entry on the day. Juniors are under 21 on December 31st 2026.

Please note that, if you are not a member of British Orienteering, you won’t be covered by the organisation’s public liability insurance for this event. You’re very welcome to take part, but please be aware that you do so at your own risk. For example, if you were to accidentally injure a member of the public or damage property during the event, you would not be covered by British Orienteering’s insurance.
The county council has recently introduced a congestion charge if driving through central Oxford. If you are unsure how best to get to Oxford then we recommend using Pear Tree Park and Ride.
Starts are available from 10:00-12:00 and will be fairly chill. When entering, please select a start bin so that we can spread competitors out over the window and don't end up having a rush at the end!
