Welcome to the Oxford University Quiz Society website.
OUQS exists to stimulate an interest in general knowledge and quizzing of all types. We run a number of events each year, such as pub quizzes and buzzer quizzes like the annual Inter-Collegiate Quiz. The Society regularly sends teams to inter-university quiz tournaments around the UK, and sometimes in the USA as well. OUQS is also happy to help those in need of question writing, quiz hosting and buzzer system hire.

Latest News & Updates:
26 June 2021 - ICT Closed Mirror
Huge congratulations to everyone who played in ICT this weekend! Oxford A (Ali Izzatdust, Oliver Hargrave, Peter Devlin, Freddy Leo) triumphed over Oxford B (Mehmet Tatoglu, Laura Cooper, Sam Baker, Eliza Dean) in a very close final (which was amusingly interrupted by Freddy and Laura having to leave to be vaccinated). Meanwhile, Oxford C and D played excellently as well, the former having a huge afternoon. It was fantastic to have the final between two Oxford teams, as well as having two freshers in the final which is brilliant news for next year! More information can be found on our recent results page.
12 June 2021 - ICT Open Mirror
Probably the most difficult quizbowl tournament to be played this year in the UK - the open field mirror of ICT (a US national champtionship tournament) was held last weekend. Of the 23 people who played, 11 were former or current OUQS members (the 24th player, former OUQS president Frances Clark-Murray, couldn't make it). The team 'Anderson Electrics' captained by former OUQS president Daoud Jackson and joined by current OUQS members Alex Peplow and Alex Gunasekara (ably helped by Olav Bjortomt) came second despite beating the team 'We Didn't Sign Up For Creativity' (Andrew Frazer, Pat Gibson, Evan Lynch and Matt Booth) in an apparently unnecessary final. More information can be found on our recent results page.
9 May 2021- Delta Burke (online)
Congratulations to Oxford A (Ali Izzatdust, Peter Devlin, Maddie Lay, Drake Slaikeu-Lawhead) for winning this tournament in a nerve-wracking final against Warwick B that went to a tiebreak tossup. Congratulations also to Oxford B-E for representing the society - it's a testament to the depth of knowledge in the society that we can send so many people to tournaments. More information can be found on our recent results page.

Oxford A are British Student Quiz Champions 2021! They brought the trophy home with a resounding 11 wins and 0 losses, giving them a 2-game lead over 2nd-placed Cambridge A and Southampton A (both on W9 L2), meaning that no final was needed. Congratulations to our newly-crowned champions: Oli Clarke, Alex Peplow, Jacob Robertson, Alex Hardwick.
Meanwhile, Oxford B and Oxford C both finished in the top bracket (top 8 teams), with Oxford B finishing 4th (W8 L3) and Oxford C finishing 7th (W5 L6). Oxford D qualified for the middle bracket, which they won by winning all their playoff games to finish 9th overall (W8 L3).
Congratulations to everyone elected at this year's Annual General Meeting.
Despite the current unfortunate circumstances student buzzer quizzing in the UK continues to go from strength to strength, and OUQS is at the heart of this. We have secured a stall at the virtual Freshers' Fair and are eagerly looking forward to welcoming new students interested in quiz.
