After retiring in 2002 Anna
and I thought it important to introduce new elements into
our life so that we did not simply have life as before but
minus work. So we bought a house on an island in Sweden.
You can see some pictures of Valen in the Photo Albums
section. There we can enjoy a very different existence than
back in England. Our principal recreations are sailing and
golf. You can see some pictures of our Macgregor sailing
boat in the Valen Photo Album. I am also a keen windsurfer
(when the wind is not too strong) We took up golf and have
been playing at various golf clubs with (slowly)
increasing ability. Pictures of Valen and other information
on the island (in Swedish) can be seen on Valens Samfällighetsförening .
Also in Sweden we have skied a lot in Lofsdalen and you can see in the
Lofsdalen Photo Album what a beautiful place that is. It
has the world's longest illuminated downhill slope and as
well as downhill skiing there are some 75 km prepared
cross-country trails. Since we sold our cabin in Lofsdalen we
have done cross-country skiing in the forests and hills around Örebro
Back in England we live in the Oxfordshire market town,
Witney, where we have a flat. I have been involved with
the Bartholomew Players, in the neighbouring village of
Eynsham, for more than 40 years as both actor and

My other great interest is playing and listening to jazz , while Anna
is a gardener and weaver. I am a member of
Oxfordshire Jazz Federation
Recently I have expanded both my
musical and theatrical activities in Sweden by becoming
involved with Lekebergs Revysällskap where I have both acted on stage and
played in the orchestra. I also play regularly with the jazz group
Orkestern DeVaDå
We have enjoyed spending time with our closest family. I
have two sons - Mike and Anton. Mike lives in Kingston, UK, while
Anton is living in New Zealand. My three
grandchildren are Caitlin, Reuben and Ernie. Anna has two
sons, Markus and Tobias, one daughter, Torun, three
grandsons, Noa, Elvin, and Monte, and three grandaughters,
Penny,Elsa and Elvira.
Sadly my dear Anna died in August 2024. I miss her very much.
