Centre for the Study of the Cantigas de Santa Maria

Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, Oxford University

Draft editions from the new critical edition of the Cantigas de Santa Maria are displayed on this site, as well as in the Cantigas Database. The archive also contains Manuel Pedro Ferreira's diplomatic transcriptions of the music from witnesses To, T and E, also published as e-books (a Google id is required).  A Table of symbols and notational conventions can be downloaded hereNEW An updates list details all music files changed since January 2018.  Where two or more stanzas are set to music in the source,  the music for the odd-numbered stanzas is transcribed,  and variants in the even stanzas are indicated above the stave. E2 in the witness codes indicates the repetition of the same cantiga in MS E.
