Text and Music Archive

The archive is part of the Cantigas de Santa Maia Database, including materials which will eventually be incorporated into the main database. It currently provides draft editions from our new critical edition of the Cantigas de Santa Maria, and translations and commentaries featured in our series of posts on our Twitter site @CantigasOxford.
The archive also hosts Manuel Pedro Ferreira's diplomatic transcriptions of the music from witnesses To, T and E, also published as e-books (a Google id is required).  A Table of symbols and notational conventions can be downloaded here.   Where two or more stanzas are set to music in the source,  the music for the odd-numbered stanzas is transcribed,  and variants in the even stanzas are indicated above the stave. E2 in the witness codes indicates the repetition of the same cantiga in MS E.
